Private water supplies should be tested
If the home you're purchasing has a private water supply (well water), quality testing is highly recommended. There are many naturally occurring (and some not so natural) contaminants that can find their way into your water. As a homeowner with a well, the responsibility to ensure quality drinking water is yours. Some lenders also require water quality testing so you may want to ask your loan officer if you need a test. Some towns also require water quality testing upon property transfer (this is not common).

Water Quality Testing: How it WorksIf you elect to have your water tested, I'll pull the sample at the time of inspection and deliver it to the lab (I don't use any lab exclusively; which lab the sample goes to may depend on timing and location).
The parameters shown in the sample report on this page are similar to what you can expect as a standard. If you have additional parameters in mind we can do any level of custom testing. If you're looking to do something custom it would be helpful to have that conversation prior to your inspection so I have the right supplies with me. For standard testing you don't have to decide/commit to the test prior to your home inspection, just be sure to let me know before I leave the inspection site. I always have standard sampling supplies with me. Price: $305 |
